In this first issue of the IPA Observer, UNCTAD looks at potential benefits and consequences of combining investment and trade promotion services. It finds that joint organizations may be able to benefit from some partially integrated functions, for example administration and technical areas, such as research, image building, and overseas representation. Case studies are from New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. - UNCTAD
